Wu Jun, a tenured professor in the Department of Molecular Biology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Research Center, has long been engaged in basic and translational research on pluripotent stem cells. Pluripotent stem cells are powerful tools for development and disease modeling and have promising applications for regenerative medicine and reproductive biology. The team discovered pluripotent stem cells with unique molecular and phenotypic characteristics, expanding the understanding of pluripotency. Pioneered major breakthroughs in xeno-chimeric and stem cell-based embryonic models. Obtaining the world's first human-pig chimera and human-monkey chimera, the first report found that cell competition is one of the barriers to cross-species chimera formation, and constructing the world's first artificial human blastocyst, bovine blastocyst structure and artificial embryo. The first author or corresponding author has published more than 40 papers in Cell, Science, Nature, Cell Stem Cell, Nature Cell Biology and other magazines. The research work has won the top ten breakthroughs in world science in 2017 (human pig chimera) and the top ten breakthroughs in world science in 2021 (artificial human blastocyst). Won "NYSCF-robertson stem cell investigator award", "University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center Grossman Investigator Award", "University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center Endowed Scholar", "Cancer Prevention Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) Scholar", 2024 ISSCR Outstanding Young Investigator Award (World Stem Cell Association Outstanding Young Researcher Award, 1 person is selected every year in the world, and 3 people of Asian descent to date).

We are committed to the research and industrialization of stem cell culture media
Sample trial production has been completed; Complete the screening of raw material suppliers and validation of raw material performance.
This project has developed stem cell culture medium beyond market products, and domestic raw materials have been tested and can be used in the production of culture medium, which will greatly reduce costs, have cost-effective advantages to fight against imported products, and realize the domestic substitution of stem cell culture medium.

Scientists create a half-human, half-pig embryo
Scientists have created a half-human, half-pig embryo, a technique that raises the possibility of interspecies organ transplantation
The use of stem cells is still in the clinical research stage, and through clinical research and observation, stem cells are mainly used in the medical field. The characteristic of stem cells is that they are in a poorly differentiated or undifferentiated state for life, have the ability to differentiate into different types of cells, and can divide and proliferate infinitely
